Saddle Up for Roswell
Horse Trials and Dressage Show
at Chestnut Ridge Equestrian Center
On September 12, 2015, we are celebrating our 10th Anniversary of the Saddle Up for Roswell at Chestnut Ridge Equestrian Center, 8am to 4pm.
The Chestnut Ridge Equestrian community is passionate about cancer. A cause that has touched so many in one way or another. We are proud to partner with Roswell Park Cancer Institute to assist those who face this disease. Over the past 9 year, we have raised $118,514.
About 110 riders of all ages will compete in dressage, stadium jumping and cross country trials at the event as they raise funds in support of cancer research and patient care at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
Participants have collected pledges from the community in support of the event, and many riders will carry the names on their saddle pads of those they ride in honor or in memory of.
The family and spectator friendly event will also feature a basket raffle, t-shirt sales and a refreshment stand. All proceeds will support Roswell Park.
"We've had a lot of help and cooperation from the horse community and the farming community," said Sue Williams, the owner of the equestrian center. "There’s a lot of ground that needs to be prepared. The cross country course is over a mile in length."
The competition begins at 8am with different age divisions. In dressage, the horse is trained to ride in a specific pattern. Horses will have to clear jumps of 2 to 4 feet.
There is no admission charge. Saddle Up will have a refreshment stand, a tack sale for riding equipment, Pete's Treats Ice Cream Truck, and many other family fun activities.
"Saddle Up for Roswell has become a beloved tradition in the riding community and a great opportunity for people to get out and watch some exciting competitions for a good cause," event chairwoman Megan Gamin said. "We encourage everyone — riders and spectators alike — to join us for this fun day in support of Roswell Park."
